Monument record 4190 - Significant Mesolithic flint scatter and prehistoric ring ditches, north of Manor Farm

Summary

A significant flint scatter dating to the Mesolithic period was identified during field survey. Two ring ditches were identified at the time of the survey and further examples were found during the Northamptonshire NMP. These are likely to date to the later prehistoric period and are possibly Bronze Age round barrows.

{1} Possible record of a cropmark at NCC SMR? A few more flints 400m to the north-west at SP78048820.

{2} Ring ditch (SP 78508808) NW of the village on a N-facing slope on Northampton Sand at 135 m. above OD. Air photographs (in NMR) show a ring ditch 25 m. in diam.
