A watching brief of a pipeline route identified a group of Saxon pottery sherds in the subsoil. It was not clearly associated with any archaeological features other than a single posthole.

Full Description
{1} Group of early-middle Saxon pottery, mostly representing parts of three vessels. No clearly defined archaeological features except for single post hole 5m south (with single sherd of medieval pottery within).
{2} A group of early middle Saxon pottery, mostly representing parts of three vessels were found within the top of the subsoil at SP77604137. No clearly defined archaeological features were identified except for a single posthole 5m to the south. This contained a single rim sherd of medieval calcareous gritty ware. More details of Saxon pottery given, including probable date range of c.450-650 AD.
