Full Description
{1} Forty eight sherds of Romano-British pottery were recovered from a pit (1.80m by 1.30m) during a watching brief. The pottery comprised a soft pink grogged ware (41 sherds) and a Parchement ware (7 sherds) possibly dated to the 4th century.
{2} A pit 1.8m x 1.3m was identified at SP76834143. 48 sherds of Roman pottery, comprising soft pink grogged ware (41 sherds) and Parchment ware (7 sherds), were present. The pottery was small and abraded, lacking diagnostic forms, but a C4th date is likely. The discovery of the pit may support local information that there is a Roman settlement 60m to the south.
