Summary

Formal layout and gardens at Ashby St Ledgers Manor house. Features include a walled garden of circa 1700 situated to the south of the house, and formal gardens to the east, laid out from 1904 and between 1909-12 by Edwin Lutyens.

Full Description

{3} In 1703 Joseph Ashley purchased manor from last L'Anson heir; Lutyens created the gardens in the early C20th.

{4} John Catesby was the owner of the manor, Robert Catesby attained it during the Gunpowder Plot. By 1619 Brian L'Anson Esquire, citizen and draper of London had taken possession. The manor is now held by John Ashley Esquire who purchased it from last L'Anson heir.
