Full Description

{1} Shown as Stoke House on Ordnance Survey map. Country house. 1835 for Humphrey family, minor modifications by Henry Littler 1858. Brick with slate roof. Double-depth plan, Regency style. 2 and 3 storeys. Main front of 2 storeys. 5-window range. Pair of part-glazed doors at centre under segmental brick arch with fanlight. Modified and porch added mid C20. Sash windows with glazing bars under gauged brick heads. Hipped roof with brick stacks at ridge. 2-window ranges recessed to left and right have similar sash windows with glazing bars under gauged brick heads. Range to right is 3-storey. Garden front to left is similar of 2 storeys, 4-window range. Elevation to left of garden front is similar of 3-window range with square bay and open loggia to ground floor of 1858. Interior: main staircase of 1835 with iron balustrade and quarter landings rising around large open well, colonnade to upper landing and moulded cornices. Reset marble fireplace in drawing room and reset fielded panelling to first floor room to right of main front. Secondary staircase also of 1835 with stick balustrade.
