Full Description
{1} The late C18th stone-built orangery stands south of house. Comprises five arched openings. It used to stand at Brixworth Hall and was re-erected at Kelmarsh "not many years ago".
{3} Brixworth Hall, built in the 1740s and demolished in 1954, was described as 'yellow sandstone'; pictorial records, including Perrin's watercolour in Northampton Central Library, suggest it was a light-coloured rock from the Northampon Sand. The later C18th orangery, which has a façade of grey Kingsthorpe Sandstone, was moved from Brixworth to Kelmarsh Hall, where it can be seen in the garden.
