Full Description

{1} Unusual mound noted in Lings Wood. 60m east-west by 70m north-south. Appears to be natural, but with some form to it. T.C. Welsh speculates about nature/origin of the feature in connection to the oval enclosure at SP80296394. Iron Age ringwork, motte and bailey castle, Saxon ringwork, landscaping around Lings House or remains of 18th century racecourse?
