Full Description
{1} Garden remains (SP 608440, SP 608442). South of Astwell castle are at least four rectangular areas edged by scarps 0.5 - 2 m high extending up the hillside. This may be a late C16th or early C17th garden, perhaps contemporary with the extension of the house in 1606. North-east of the Castle further remains of landscaping perhaps of the later C17th or early C18th include a large 'U'-shaped pond and the remains of a possible tree avenue. [RCHM plan].
