Full Description
{1} At the north end of High Street an earth bank between houses and the street was cut for the driveway for No.13 High Street on 15th May 1983. A supine burial in a shallow grave cut into the gravel c.1m from the pavement. It was excavated by A.Hannan on 16th May 1983. Immediately to the south was a pit or the butt-end of a ditch, also possibly pre-medieval. Fill dehumified. No associated finds recovered.
{2} No bones were disturbed in excavation c.2m to the north, suggesting that the pre-Christian burial is a lone burial and not part of a large cemetery.
