Full Description

{1} Fragments of at least one and perhaps two enclosures bounded by low banks are the only visible earthworks but these, in conjunction with existing features of the village, contribute to an understanding of the village's development.

{2} Plan of possible slight earthworks.

{3} T.C. Welsh observes scarp in field to the south of the church and speculates that it could form part of an enclosure, thereby suggesting that the church was built within a pre-existing defensive enclosure.

{4} There is a gentle uniform slope down to a ditch in the hedge, followed by the drain from the churchyard. However, there is a "scarp" up to 3m high, fading out eastward, along the south side of the old churchyard. Till the churchyard was extended this had a brick wall along the top, with a narrow spinney along the slope.
