In 1933, builders constructing a bungalow found large quantities of pottery and burnt stone. Interpreted as Roman in orgin at the time.

Full Description
{1} Finds of medieval pot sherds pre 1939 during building development. Possibly same as site name: Stanion.
{3} Remains of pottery and a kiln were discovered at Stanion by workmen building a bungalow. Whilst foundations were being laid in a former orchard near Corby Road, only a few inches below the surface, were huge quantities of pottery. In the corner of the foundations huge stones burnt red by fire were also found. These were initially interpreted as being Roman in origin.
