Full Description

{1} Clapper bridge crosses the brook just south of the church. There are signs of an old sunken trackway leading to it from the north of the village. The bridge is 4 feet wide, intended for pedestrians and led horses. It originally consisted of 3 central slabs of stone restin on piers built of stone. Clapper bridges by the nature of their simple construction are not easy to date but the mitred stops of the outwaters indicate that it is not likely to be later than the 17th century and might be Tudor.
