Summary
A group of Iron Age finds was found by a drag-line operator while digging clay in the winter of 1968-9 including a Late Iron Age iron sword in a wooden scabbard with decorated bronze bindings. No other finds were noticed at the time.

Full Description
{1} A bent iron sword blade, measuring 922 by 48mm, together with eight sheet bronze mounts with repousse ornamentation, originally holding together a wooden scabbard. Of Piggott's Group V or 'Battersea' type, mainly of continental La Tene III ancestry. Found in a dried-up river bed in 1968/9. Detailed description of find.
{5} (SP99918010) Belgic iron sword in wooden scabbard with bronze bindings found January, 1967. Dated to the first half of the 1stc it is in Westfield Museum, Kettering.
{6,7} The above find was made during extensive gravel excavation, the sword was picked up by a five ton grab and no other finds are known.
