{1} Find; pre 1864; late Saxon coin of Athelstan(?).

{2, 3} An Anglo-Saxon coin, found in Bulwick parish some years before 1864, bears the inscription 'ETHELSTANI' and from its style may have belonged to the reign of Athelstan {2}, King of Kent, Essex, Sussex and Surrey, from 837 to 852 A.D., who is said to have governed in East Anglia during the reign of Egbert {3}.
