Iron Age and Romano British sherds were reported at this location but this has not been substantiated.

{2} Iron Age and Roman pottery recovered from SP838590.

{4} The site extends to the west of the Whiston to Denton road and Iron Age and Roman pottery has been found in the area of SP838590.

{6} An anonymous remark on the museum 6". Mr Hollowell, who has found fragmentary IA sherds in an adjacent field, knows nothing of this site.
