Full Description

{3} At the end of the alignment of the terrace RN:7574008/1. Visit dated 10/06/1986. Pasture. In good condition.

{4} Earthwork of a possible post medieval round mound and pond. Previously described as a Scheduled round barrow, but probably associated with the landscaping of Lamport Hall Park. A slighly oval mound 10m x 8m and 3.8m high. Its profile is sharply conical. There are traces of a ditch on the south-west side. A deep rectangular pond lies on the east side, but is now partially in-filled. This probably provided the material for the mound. The pond cuts through ridge and furrow earthworks.

{5} The mound might yet prove to be a modified round barrow. Plan at 2500 scale.

{6} The pond was dug in the late C19th.

{7} The Mound at SP 76207421 is 3.8m high; adjacent to a dried-up pond depression, and joined on its N side by an old field bank. Its present, rather conical, appearance suggests that it may be an ornamental feature constructed from the pool spoil; but there is a ditch around its SW half so it could possibly be a "landscaped" barrow.

{8} No change. Mound at SP 76207421 surveyed at 1:2500.

{10} The mound at SP 76207421 is scheduled, but does not appear on a detailed MS map of the park (now at Delappe Abbey) or on a map made for Sir Charles Isham in 1847. Sometime between that date and 1900 a pond was dug and
the soil put on the N side for shelter.
