Full Description

{1} Cropmark; enclosure;(1);

{2} Flint working site (centred SP 720677), NE of Sanders Covert, on Boulder Clay between 90m and 100m above OD. Worked flints, including one leaf-shaped and one barbed-and-tanged arrowheads, have been found over an area of about 4 ha. Air photographs (in NMR) show the rather indistinct cropmarks of a rectangular enclosure covering 0.5 ha in the centre of the area. At least one linear ditch runs NE-SW across
the SE side of the site.

{3} (SP 63677698). Two worked flints found in 1974.

{4} (SP 6370694). This assemblage of material represents the first substantial Mesolithic collection from the county to be published. It is unusual in the combination of microlith but can generally be attributed to the later Mesolithic period. [See this article for a fuller statistical description of the material and a discussion of comparison sites from the county].
