Full Description
{1} Described as a three-roomed, three-storey house sited on the north side of Ashby Lane in 1952. Octagonal in plan with a brick conical roof through the apex of which passes a two flue chimney stack. Internally the second floor had collapsed. Reputed to have been a 'beacon house' but also considered to be a possible 17th or 18th century folly. Known to have been used as a summer house in the mid 19th century. Attempts were made to save the building at this date, but appear to have been unsuccessful.
[SMR note 18/05/2011: source of information not known, but not included in the Scheduling Lists. Although shown on early OS maps there appear to be no standing remains of this structure.]
