Summary
Upon foundation in 1200 the hospital was granted a burial ground. Remains were found to the south and south-east of the hospital in the 19th century and, more recently, in the grounds of the Good Shepherd primary school.

Full Description
{1} Upon foundation in 1200 hospital was given burial ground for those living within & other parishioners who expressly wished;
{2} Hospital foundation charter granted cemetery; remains of stone coffins discovered in gardens to south & south-east of hospital prior to 1897;
{3} Foundation charter granted cemetery for inmates of hospital & use of parishioners who so wished; in garden to south-east of house remains of stone coffins from cemetery have been dug up;
{4} To south & south-east of house remains of stone coffins dug up;
{5} St David's Chapel & Hospital site visited on 23rd May 1983 as result of skeleton being found in trench being dug on west side of school following the western edge of a curving path & about 0.7m deep; probable edges of walls noted with areas between filled with ironstone rubble at SP 7517563057; brick walls & rubble also noted further north at c SP75174 63088; the skeleton was located at SP 75175 63057 with the head to the west. It had been partially removed; finds of tile also made; notes & sketch location plans in file;
{6} Site visited 3rd March 2005 to examine human remains uncovered during works being carried out in the grounds of the Good Shepherd Primary School. It is mostly likely that the burial was of medieval date, probably a deceased patient at the former hospital.
