Full Description

{1} Single layer of sub-angular cobbles visible within the southern stream bank at a depth of c.2m below the modern ground surface and apparently lying on natural subsoil. The cobbled surface is visible for c.8m - elsewhere there are isolated similar pebbles. Probably an archaeological feature but no definite proof. Given depth of burial it is unlikely to be recent and might be associated with the adjacent Roman villa.
