Full Description

{1} Fieldname: Black Pits.

{2} Roman pottery found by fieldwalking at SP674765.

{3} Roman Settlement (?) (SP 674765), N of Lodge Farm, in the N of the parish, on sand and gravel at about 160m above OD. Roman pottery was discovered during field-walking in 1975.

{4} A Romano-British site has been claimed to exist in the field called `Blackpits' although a survey carried out in 1981 found no evidence of such a settlement.
