Full Description

{1} Mounts Shoe Factory on The Mounts/Overstone Road; now demolished. Shoe factory of three storeys & basement dating to 1890, constructed of red brick with stone panels & slated hipped roof. It has small chimneys incorporated in pillars on south-west & south-east sides and a boiler house on the north-west gable end. A further range of two storeys & semi-basement date to 1920, comprising a red brick building with slate roof. It is connected to the 1890s part by one floor over gateway to yard, In 1967 it was owned by corporation; inscription on portico reads "Parker & Tears Mounts Factory".
