Map

Type and Period (2)

Full Description

{2} Settlement remains Upper Astrop. The village formerly shared a land writ with Lower Astrop and was part of a dispersed local settlement pattern in the late medieval period.

{4, 6} Earthworks reported at Upper Astrop: SP 510374 by D N Hall. (Presumably representing village shrinkage)

{7} The area contains a number of low banks, but these do not form a coherent pattern and there are no surveyable remains. The fields to the east of the road contain numerous patches of nettles. No surface finds were made.
