Full Description

{2} 43 sherds of medieval pottery were recovered. The distribution of medieval ceramics was concentrated along the southern and eastern boundaries of field 2. The ceramics were generally local wares. The distribution does not correlate with the areas of known ridge and furrow and is therefore unlikely to result from medieval manuring practises. However, the close correlation in the distribution pattern of the medieval pottery and post medieval/ modern material may result from modern manuring and material being imported to the study area from further afield.
