Full Description

[1} OS 1:10560 map (1968) depicts site of battery at SP8818/9141.,Specific reference to this site named as `H2 Rockingham' established, along with another HAA site (Corby - Weldon) for defence of Corby. Identified as being armed with 4 x 3.7 inch guns and GL Mk II radar. The gazetteer places the battery as having been in use 27.5.1942 - 22.6.1942.,The distictive semi-circular arrangment of 4 gun pits is clearly visible together with other features. In excess of 20 huts are present at the accommodation site. A small number of structures occupy the access point from the nearby road (SP88309110) and may also be associated with the battery. The latter have been cleared and the gun sites possibly abandoned by the time of the 1944 photographs though the earthwork surrounds to the 4 gun pits are still present. Site not inspected but probably destroyed?
