Summary

Vigo Well was a chalybeate spring which was discovered in 1702. Chalybeate springs have a high mineral content and were popular during the 18th century for their supposed healing properties.

{1} The discovery of the chalybeate spring called Vigo Well after the victory of 1702 had roused hope of making Northampton a fashionable watering place.
