Summary
Drawings of the church in the late 18th century show that the church was entirely surrounded by a churchyard including in front of the portico. Further interments in front of the portico were prohibited in 1857. Archaeological investigation on George Row in the 1970s identified at least ten burials up to 1.75m below ground level. Three were in stone-lined cists.
