Monument record 631/0/5 - Iron Age features

{1} Scattered Iron Age features were located in trenches 6, 7, 8 and 10 but the nature of the evaluation precluded the recovery of an overall plan. The exposed features consisted of four pits (max size 0.8m deep and 1.2m in diameter), two ditches and 19 smaller pits or post holes. Pottery from them suggestes that this part of the hillfort was occupied in the middle Iron Age.

{2} The limited investigation revealed traces of occupation in the middle Iron Age period at the southern end of the hillfort, although the nature of activity at that time and its bearing upon the history and develpment of the hillfort remains uncertain.
