Full Description

{1} Middle terrace of earthwork shown on 1717 map was exposed. Stratum of limestone which had been quarried at some time previously was found. At the south end of the terrace an area of iron slag was seen together with what appeared to be a yard-surface. Both were associated with pottery of the 13-14th centuries, a Medieval honestone, and one middle-saxon sherd.
