Full Description

{1} Number of irregular features with dark, near black, infilling. A number of tree holes were excavated but most were simply planned at the surface. The irregular nature of most was suggestive of root patterns although some displayed a more semi circular form reminiscent of the crescents interpreted as indicative of tree throws. 4m spacing between each tree can be suggested. It is uncertain whether the features are contemporary or even if all trees produced such features, a spacing as close as 4m is, however, unlikely in a natural wood.
