Full Description

{1} Undated human skull found by local children in 1975 in a section of a disused limestone quarry. Police pronounced it as "more than a hundred years old". A site visit was conducted and a further skull fragment was found as well as the likely site of discovery. There was no further evidence of burial and no material finds. Believed to be either fairly recent (post medieval or modern) or pre-medieval non christian (orientation).
