Monument record 2659/0/20 - Possible Post Medieval Building

{1} A stone wall which sealed the infilled quarry is believed to belong to a building fronting Church Lane which was abandoned or demolished in about the C18th.

{2} {3}The stone wall which sealed the quarry fill is believed to belong to a building destroyed in the 18th century.

{4} Constructed over the quarry infill was a substantial limestone wall surviving up to 0.9m high and a maximum of 0.75m wide. It ran parallel to the modern street frontage. Traced over a length of 11m the wall returned towards the frontage at its north east and south west ends. Constructed of rought hewn limestone with a rubble stone core. Traces of internal plaster and apossible fireplace were also seen. Finds from demolition debris date to the 17th and 18th century.
