Find Spot record 4939/0/1 - Unstratified Mesolithic Finds Scattered Over Wide Area on North Valley Side of River Nene

Summary
Between 1904 and 1912 approximately 25,000 worked flints were collected from the topsoil over about 70 ha, mainly south of the Weedon Road. The exact provenance is not known, but the greatest concentration appears to be around SP731605. A significant quantity of the flints are thought to have been Mesolithic in date. Full Description
{1} Finds circa 1904-12.
Mesolithic microliths from OS Field 208 (SP733606).
Mesolithic flints including 364 cores and core fragments and 407 microliths from OS Field 210 (SP731605).
Mesolithic tranchet axe from OS Field 212 (SP728604). Also Mesolithic cores, core fragments and microliths from same field (SP729604).
Mesolithic microliths, cores and core fragments from OS Field 213/214 (SP726603).
Mesolithic cores and core fragments from OS Field 214 (SP725603).
Mesolithic cores and core fragments from OS Field 218 (SP727601).
Mesolithic cores and core fragments from OS Field 219 (SP730602).
Mesolithic cores and core fragments from OS Field 220 (SP732603).
Mesolithic core found between c.1904-1930 at SP7360.
Finds possibly from the period 1904-1912, no better located than "from Duston or Hunsbury". Mesolithic cores and fragments including 52 cores and 82 microliths held in Northampton Museum. Also 50 Mesolithic to Bronze Age flints held in Peterborough Museum. Assemblage consists of cores, flakes, scrapers and a mesolithic flint blade with oblique truncation and a flint burin. The cores and microliths in Northampton Museum may be from either Duston or Hunsbury.
