Full Description
{1}Series of linear features (comprising small ditches or gullies) the majority aligned north-west to south-east, the exceptions running at approximate right angles. The alignments may indicate that all belong to plots fronting the Alchester Road. The small quantity of later Antonine pottery may suggest that this part of the town was abandoned prior to the construction of the defences in about AD170. The reason for this decline is uncertain but could be due to flooding from the Silverstone Brook.
