Full Description

{1}Cutting of a trench for water main diversion exposed a section which included a black-grey layer which contained large quantities or organic material including plant remains and logs up to 30cm diameter. The layer appeared to lie directly on the Upper Lias clay and was presumed to be of early Post Glacial origin. Environmental samples / cores taken and sent to Dept of Earth Sciences at Nene College, Northampton. After 2 years they were given to the Geology Dept, Leicester University, nothing heard of since.
