Summary
Archaeological evaluation undertaken in 1989 identified several features, although there was very little dating evidence suggesting the site was located some distance from settlement.

Full Description
{1} Archaeological evaluation undertaken in 1989 comprised the excavation of seven trenches around the perimeter of the existing football club. In trench 2, two shallow pits, a small gully and a posthole were identified. A possible sherd of Roman pottery was recovered from the gully and a single sherd of late Saxon from one of the pits. In trench 3, a gully and pit of ditch terminal contained small amounts of medieval pottery.
