Full Description

{1}Owner G.E.Bevan & Co Ltd., operating from 1859 up to 1863 when they nearly exhausted the supply of ore on the site and operations concentrated on Blisworth and Wellingborough. Considerably bigger in scale than the other quarry at Dallington (Wheldon's).The used a horse drawn tramway on site. The exact location of the quarry is unknown but early records show a railway siding off the LNWR Northampton to Rugby line on the west side of the line half a mile north of Castle Station and this would put the quarry in the middle of the present day British Rail Goods sidings.
