Full Description
{1} Quarrying took place on both sides of the Northampton Road, doubtless commencing on the western side where the stone was outcropping, while the eastern quarries lay under overburden that increased up to nearly 20ft.
{2} An infilled ironstone quarry, encompassing at least 1.4ha, was recorded during trial trench excavation south of Shelleycotes Road. The southern extent of the quarrying was observed in several trenches. The pit was at least 2m deep.
