Full Description

{1} Owner T.W.Ward from 1912 to 1918. This quarry was essentially a WW1 operation although production commenced in 1913. It also had a connection with the LNWR line Northampton to Peterborough line just of Ditchford level crossing. Later sources state that the quarry was in disuse in 1918. Whilst the full extent of the quarry is not known it was evidently on a small scale. Horses were probably used to pull the wagons over the short distance from the quarry to the railway but it is not impossible but unlikely that a locomotive was used. The main quarry area has been filled in but outcropping stone still exists in the the fields higher up the hill.
