Full Description

{1} A soil horizon overlying the prehistoric level contained middle Saxon (Maxey-ware) pottery associated with some postholes and possibly a deep pit. This evidence for domestic occupation extends the known limits of the middle Saxon town to the slopes immediately above the river. Recovery of Maxey-type ware, but no Ipswich ware indicates activity may be after 800AD.
