Full Description
{1} A standard gauge railway network served the entire storage site and was linked to the main Bedford to Northampton line. Spurs served each store building terminated alongside to facilitate loading and unloading. The track utilised both concrete and wooden sleepers. All this has been lifted but there are some concrete sleepers (broken) alongside the former track in places. Much of the trackbed ballast is also present. In some areas railway cutting or embankment earthworks are clearly visible cutting across earlier earthworks. Brick manholes and drainholes associated with the railway and other contempoary use are fairly widespread.
