Full Description
{1} Letter from J.Steane quoting from a report by A.McCormick and the NMR. No.4 is a two-cell house with a number of interesting C17th features surviving. No.2 appears to have been made out of a farm building originally attached to No.4.
{2} Recorded in August 1977 prior to demolition. Two storey house of coursed rubble with thatched roof built in the early C17. It was extended to the north in the late 19th century, though these additions may incorporate earlier work. The front, east elevation, had three-light ovolo-moulded mullioned windows, although only those on the ground floor had hoods. One of the windows had the mullions replaced by a sash window. To the north is a single light ovolo-moulded stair window set high in the wall. The south gable is parapeted and has a single-flue ashlar stack. Inside, the south room has a chamfered beam with 90 degree stops; the fireplace has a chamfered bressumer but gives the impression of being 19th century with relatively narrow tall proportions. The north room has an axial beam with stops. The first floor is a semi-attic; for each room is a single roof truss with through purlins resting on the extended ends of the collars; the trusses rest on stone corbels in the wall.
