Full Description

{1} This house had suffered recently from fire when the letter was written in 1977. However, before this happened there were a number of features of interest. It was a two cell house with a central cross passage, mid to late C17th in date. The original C17th house was of a higher quality than the others (Nos 2,4,6,7,8 Deene End) partly because of the evidence of the size of the main room. The room was of some considerable size, shown where the the beam extended right across the passage. The eastern end of the house was rebuilt in the C19th when it was turned into a two room cottage.
