Full Description

{1}A single pit with medieval pottery from its fill. This was cut through a thin layer of red loam into natural ironstone.

{3} A structure consisting of six postholes and associated cluster of pits was erected. There were metalworking assemblages present in the pits. In a pit close to Pike Lane there was evidence of intense in situ burning and 1.4kg of ceramic mould fragments from the backfill. The most notable sherds of pottery include a lamp, a Cotswold Oolitic jar, a Potterspury ware jar with a deep bifid rim. Among the shelly wares is a fragment of a possible louver, which although used as a building material, was made to order.
