Summary

One of the World War II road blocks constructed by Northamptonshire County Council on behalf of the South Midlands Area Command. The carriageway was not permanently blocked but steel stanchions and/or sand bags and lump stone were provided in order to close the road quickly in the event of an emergency. The construction was during 1940 but it had been removed by the time of the Defence of Britain survey. It was located immediately east of the junction between the A50 road and the Boughton Crossing to Boughton Road, Boughton.

Full Description

{1} Situated immediately to the east of the junction between the A50 and the Boughton Crossing to Boughton road (adjacent to Boughton Cold Store), 5 yards east of T.P 7 (T.P. 7 unknown, possibly a telegraph pole number.) This was one of the road blocks constructed by the County Councl by mid-July 1940, on behalf of the South Midlands Area Command on a site approved by the C.R.E. Oxford District. The carriageway was not permanently blocked but steel stanchions and/or sand bags and lump stone were provided in order to close the road quickly in the event of an emergency.
