Monument record 8673/1/1 - Abington Park WWII Defended Locality

Probable location of a defended locality at the junction of the Park Avenues North and South and Wellingborough Road, although it has not been confirmed

{5} The existence of a Defended Locality at Abington Park has not been firmly established. Strategically a DL at the junction of the Park Avenues North and South and Wellingborough Road at the corner of Abington Park, would conform with the pattern of other DL's in Northampton. Barnes refers to a roadblock near here and there are pictures of 12th Northamptonshire Battalion Home Guard rolling concrete cylinders into place, also at a road block near Abington Park.
