Full Description
{1}Site of former mortar pit survives as a pasture earthwork cut feature. Ridge and Furrow present to the immediate west. The pit was the subject of a report (Agenda item 6©) to NCC Environment Committee in June 1998 when leave was sought to remove the public right to dig mortar by removing the land from the Register of Commonland. According to the report the original right stems from the 1779 Inclosure Award for Isham whereby locals were entitled to dig mortar for present and future buildings. The north side of the site was subject to residential development in the 1970s. Extreme south side occupied by an access road.
