Monument record 727/0/101 - WWII Air Raid Shelter, Moat Lane

A civilian air-raid shelter constructed from brick with a concrete slab roof. Now demolished.

{1} Rectangular brick structure with flat concrete roof. Located by corner of Moat Lane and Chantry Lane. One door in each of long walls. No windows. May be World War II in origin, possibly a surface shelter.

{3} Identified as a WWII era surface built air-raid shelter. Local residents have confirmed this identification; one thinks it likely that it was built for Lord Hesketh's estate staff who would have occupied the Miller's House at the end of the lane.
