Full Description
{1} Excavation of 1963 revealed Romano-British building with cobbled floor located alongside Romano-British road.
{2} Two sections cut across the line of RR 57a at TL 003 799, on the edge of a quarry, produced the road and much pottery, probably 3rd c, from the made-up ground over which the road ran.
Some 60 yards SE of this excavation, and several yards to the NE of the road's alignment, quarrying produced a fine cobbled surface, the floor of a wayside building; this cobbling appears to accompany the road's alignment. This indicated site has now been quarried away and is under water.
