Full Description
{1} A series of earthwork features set in a field on the north-east edge of Corby. They comprise a cluster of three penannular ditch and banked enclosures with openings to the north-east. To the south-west is a larger single penannular circular earthwork enclosure with opening to its north-west. At least five smaller circular embanked features and one rectangular are also present. Possible structures (huts?) in the extreme eastern corner of the field. The features almost certainly represent a WWII searchlight battery + ?LAA? The site was subsequently quarried and destroyed. Seen on 1942 aerial photos (SP89NW) 6068-6069 HLA/419 13/3/42.
<1> Royal Air Force, 1940s, RAF Vertical Aerial Photographs, SP89NW: 6068-6069 HLA/4 (Aerial Photograph(s)). SNN105266.
